ShowLoop
Audio Unit plugin · for live production
ShowLoop plays your reference file on an endless, gapless loop, bit for bit, with nothing added and nothing changed. Built for main/backup rigs. And it counts and shows every error it detects.

How it works
1
Add your reference file
Click Add File and choose a WAV file. ShowLoop copies it into its own storage and plays that copy, never your original.
2
Tap Play
Playback starts from the first sample of the file and loops with no gap. Stopping takes a deliberate five-second hold.
3
Watch the counter
The meter shows the output level, and the error row counts any Loop Seam, Dropout or File Missing that ShowLoop detects.
ShowLoop checks every loop point, bit for bit, and counts it if one isn’t clean.
The problem
One glitch at the loop point. One false switch.
When a backup system can watch a reference signal to decide whether the main is alive, that signal needs to stay unbroken. If it breaks, the system can treat the main as failed and switch to the backup. A loop that clicks, gaps or drifts at the loop point breaks the signal too. So a loop that glitches at the loop point can switch your show to backup for no reason, in the middle of the set.
At the loop point
Zoomed in to single samples where the file loops back to its start.
Reference signal
On a main/backup rig, a backup system can watch a reference signal (often called a pilot tone) to decide whether the main is alive. ShowLoop sits inside each rig, Main and Backup, and plays your reference file on its own channel, on a bit-exact, gapless loop. While the signal arrives intact, a backup system can treat the main as alive. If it breaks or stops, it can switch to the backup. ShowLoop plays the file with no gap at the loop point, and counts a dropout when it detects a gap in its audio.
Illustration: when Main’s reference signal stops, a backup system can switch to Backup.
Features
Plays
Bit-exact, gapless loop
A straight copy of your file to the output. No gain, no dither, no resampling. The file sits in memory, and the end of the file runs straight into the start, with nothing in between.
Reloads with your show
ShowLoop saves its file with your host’s show and loads it again when you reopen it. It never starts by itself: playback waits for your tap.
Built for live audio
No memory allocation and no disk reads while it plays, and it never waits on a lock. The whole file is loaded into memory when you add it.
Protects
Add File
Choose a WAV file. ShowLoop copies it into its own private storage and plays that copy, never your original. A file it can’t play exactly, at the wrong sample rate or in an unsupported format, is refused with a clear message and never replaces the one you have.
Remove File
Deletes the file from ShowLoop’s storage. Locked while playing, so it can’t be pressed mid-show.
Play, and hold to stop
One tap starts the loop from the top of the file. Stopping takes a deliberate five-second press, with an amber ring filling around the button. Let go early and the loop carries on, untouched.
Reports
Level meter
A thin output meter from 0 to −90 dBFS, with the level to a tenth of a dB.
Error counter and Error Details
A status dot and count, always on screen, with the time of the last error. Open Error Details for the most recent 100, each with its type and time to the millisecond. Nothing clears until you press Reset.
Error checks
Three kinds of error, counted and shown.
ShowLoop doesn’t assume the loop is clean. It checks. Every loop point, every block and every reload is watched. Anything wrong is counted, timed and kept on screen until you clear it.

Loop Seam
At every pass of the file, ShowLoop compares the samples either side of the loop point, bit for bit, with the file’s own last and first samples. A Loop Seam error shouldn’t appear in normal use. If one does, it’s counted and timed.
Dropout
File Missing
If a show reloads and its file has gone from ShowLoop’s storage, ShowLoop says so straight away and counts it. It holds no file and shows the missing file’s name, so you know before you press Play.
Who uses ShowLoop
